Managing Change for Sustained Performance
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
The only constant in life is change. Landscapes change with the effects of weather and other natural processes, the fortunes of countries and continents change with the shifting currents of trade and resource development and families change with births, marriages and deaths. The thing about these types of events is that they are gradual and occur over an extended period which allows us the time and space we need to digest the change.
The same cannot be said of the current pace of change in the workplace and our daily personal lives. The ever accelerating rate of technological development, foreign competition, financial obligations, time management demands and emerging societal trends conspire to overwhelm our ability to comprehend and integrate these changes. The result is often depression, stress, conflict and reduced productivity both at home and in the workplace.
This workshop will familiarize you, friends and colleagues with the fundamental, predictable psychological phases we each go through when faced with change and it will also provide you with some tools and techniques for more effectively managing your response to that change. While we often have little control over the changes that impact us, we always have control over how we choose to react to those changes.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Change can take many forms and occurs simultaneously on multiple levels in our lives. If one or more of the following statements apply to you then you can benefit from this workshop.
Career:
-
My organization is undergoing significant growth and reorganization.
-
My work department recently added or lost team members.
-
My company is experiencing a high employment turnover rate.
-
I am directly impacted by “downsizing” in my workplace.
-
I recently assumed a new role within my current organization or accepted a position with a new organization.
Personal:
-
I have recently moved or am contemplating a move in the near future.
-
I have one or more children attending a new school, graduating, entering college or facing other significant life transitions.
-
I have experienced a significant change in my health or the health of someone close to me.
While each of these change situations might be manageable on its own, the negative synergy of multiple, concurrent changes can prove daunting. This workshop will equip you with coping strategies to survive and even thrive in the face of these personal and career challenges.
