Interpersonal Skill Building for Business Success

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

This Interpersonal Skill Building workshop utilizes the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) as a foundation to help you, business colleagues, valued customers as well as others in your personal life better understand your unique behavioral and communication preferences and the implications of those preferences on your daily interactions. You will also learn how to use those new insights to anticipate the preferences of others with whom you interact and how to modify your approach for improved interpersonal interactions.

The MBTI is a highly reliable self-reporting assessment instrument used worldwide that interprets your answers to a series of questions and uses that data to predict your preferences in four key behavioral categories. It does not attempt to predict talent or capability; rather it provides a common language for discussing and exploring interpersonal preferences and differences in the following areas:

  1. Energy Focus
Do you “recharge your batteries” by retreating into your inner world of thoughts and ideas or through stimulating interactions with the outside world?
  2. Information Gathering
Do you prefer to focus on the present and concrete facts or do you look for big picture trends and envision future possibilities?
  3. Decision Making
Do you operate from a place of established principles and objective evaluation or do you filter things through your subjective assessment of anticipated human impact?
  4. Action Orientation
Do you like to arrive at a prompt decision or do you prefer to continue gathering information?

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Career advancement, business success and healthy personal relationships are built on a foundation of effective communication skills and an appreciation of the behavioral and temperamental differences that exist between each of us.

  • When you interact with your boss, colleagues and customers are you able to effectively anticipate their communication and decision making styles and modify your approach accordingly?
  • Do you often find yourself assuming that colleagues or customers are purposely trying to be difficult when they refuse to see things from your perspective or do things your way?
  • Do you frequently find yourself baffled by the seemingly irrational planning, organizing and decision making methods of your boss, peers or spouse?

If your answer is “yes” to any of these scenarios then there is a good likelihood that your interactions with others are potentially undermining effective team performance and customer satisfaction, and in the process diminishing your personal opportunities for advancement.

This workshop will assist you in the process of learning to see most conflicts and disagreements as authentic differences in personality type and will help you to appreciate these differences as potential assets rather than liabilities.
